The 18U OKC Athletics beat the OK Travelers 6-3

Ryan Kouba went 2-4, helping the 18U OKC Athletics to a 6-3 victory over the OK Travelers on Saturday at SWOSU.

He singled in the first inning and tripled in the third inning.
Rowdy Reihs handled the OK Travelers’ lineup with ease, racking up seven strikeouts. Reihs allowed two earned runs, six hits and four walks over five innings.

The top of the first saw the 18U OKC Athletics take an early lead, 1-0. A single by Kouba, bringing home Peyton Maroney started the inning off.

The OK Travelers survived the OKC Athletics’ surge and put up one run of its own in the first. Travelers scored on a fielder’s choice.

The OKC Athletics never surrendered the lead after the second inning, scoring one run on.

The OKC Athletics piled on two more runs in the top of the third. A triple by Kouba ignited the offense, plating Ryan Harrel. That was followed up with a walk by Kyle Love.

The OKC Athletics pushed across one run in both the fourth inning and the fifth. In the fourth, the OKC Athletics scored on an RBI single by Maroney, bringing home Justin Decker.

After pushing across one run in the bottom of the fifth, the OK Travelers faced just a 6-2 deficit. A sacrifice fly by 00 gave the OK Travelers life. Finally, Reihs got 9 to ground out to end the threat.

After pushing across one run in the bottom of the sixth, the OK Travelers faced just a 6-3 deficit. A solo home run by 5 fueled Travelers’ comeback. But, Jake McKinnon got 57 to fly out to end the inning.
